The Prize Draw Code

WinnerSelect, from the UK CPSA is listed on the Prize Draw Code signatories and have agreed to promote compliance with the UK Government’s Voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators. Read the Code

Prize draw standards changed

Good practice now emphasises transparent, auditable winner selection: an organisation should be able to explain how a winner was selected and show which entries were in the draw.

WinnerSelect confirms the eligible entry pool, runs the selection securely and keeps a record for entrants, clients and internal teams.

WinnerSelect is designed to help organisations demonstrate a fair, transparent and auditable winner-selection process.

How it works

Create the draw, add the eligible entries, confirm the pool.

Every draw is run server-side from a cryptographic random source, over an entry pool that is locked and fingerprinted before the draw begins, so the list your winner came from can be shown to be the list you started with.

  • The pool is locked

Entries are fixed before the draw begins: nothing added, removed or reordered once the pool is closed.

  • The pool is fingerprinted

The locked pool is fingerprinted, so the list the draw ran over can be checked against your own copy.

  • The draw runs server-side

The selection is made on the server, from a cryptographic random source, not in a browser or a spreadsheet.

  • One winner or several

Select one winner or several in the same draw.

Draw records

Every draw leaves a timestamped record, written as the draw runs and exportable as CSV.

Professional winner selection for every kind of organisation

  • Competition operators

Regular draws, and a result that has to stand up when someone asks.

  • Brands and agencies

Promotions run for a client, who will ask how the winner was chosen.

  • Charities and fundraisers

Supporter draws, where the people entering are the people funding you.

  • Publishers and media

Reader and listener competitions, on a deadline and in public.

  • Clubs and membership organisations

Member draws where everyone knows each other, so being fair is not enough.

  • Promotions and events

One-off draws at an event, or at the end of a campaign.

Your winner should be random. Your process shouldn’t be.
