Random winner picker for UK prize draws

WinnerSelect is a random winner picker built in the UK for competition operators, brands and agencies. You upload your entry list or set a number range, and WinnerSelect picks the winner on its own servers using a cryptographically secure random number generator. The entry list is locked and fingerprinted before any winner is chosen, and every draw is kept as a permanent record you can show to anyone who asks.

What you can draw from

  • Ticket Draw: upload a CSV with a name or code and a ticket number for each entry. Only those two columns are used.
  • Number Draw: set a range, such as 1 to 5,000, and draw numbers from it.
  • Phone Number Draw: upload a list of phone numbers. Each line is one entry, so someone who entered three times has three chances. The winning number is shown masked, with only the first five and last three digits visible.
  • Multiple winners: draw up to 100 winners in one go, in order. No entry can win twice.

WinnerSelect has been tested with entry lists of two million entries.

How a draw works

  1. Prepare. Name the draw, set how many winners you need and upload your list. The file is checked before it’s saved: duplicates, blank lines and unreadable rows are reported, with the line they’re on.
  2. Lock. When you run the draw, the entry list is fixed and given a fingerprint, a 64-character code that would change completely if a single entry were added, removed or altered.
  3. Draw. WinnerSelect’s servers pick every winner in one step. There’s no re-roll: one draw, one result.
  4. Reveal and record. Reveal the winners on screen, at your own pace, live on a stream if you like. The draw is saved as a permanent record with the time, the number of entries, the list’s fingerprint and the winners in order, and you can export your draw history as a CSV.

Why not use a free picker or a spreadsheet?

Free online pickers and spreadsheets are fine for a quick office raffle. For a promotion people paid to enter, or a draw you run for a client, the question is what you can show afterwards. Under the CAP Code, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) expects promoters to have evidence that a winner was selected randomly.

Rehearse with free test draws

Test draws are free. They run exactly like a real draw but are marked as tests on screen, in your history and in your export, so a rehearsal can never be passed off as a real result. Use them to check a file before the real draw, or to practise before you go live.

Built for live draws

Many operators announce winners live on Facebook or Instagram. You can prepare all of your draws before you go live, then pick each one from a list and reveal it on camera. On ticket draws, no entrant’s name appears on screen until they’ve won.

Frequently asked questions

Is WinnerSelect free?

Test draws are free. Real draws need a single draw, a draw pack or a subscription. See Pricing for current plans.

How is the winner chosen?

On WinnerSelect’s servers, using a cryptographically secure random number generator. The selection method gives every entry exactly the same chance, avoiding the small bias that simpler methods can introduce.

Can I prove the draw was fair afterwards?

Every draw is kept as a permanent record showing when it ran, how many entries it had, the fingerprint of the entry list and the winners in order. That’s the kind of evidence the ASA expects a promoter to have if an entrant complains. Keep your own copy of the entry list too: the fingerprint lets anyone check the winner was drawn from that exact list.

Can I pick more than one winner?

Yes. Draw up to 100 winners in one draw. They’re drawn in order and no entry can win twice.

Can I run the draw live on social media?

Yes. The draw screens are designed to be shared on a live stream, and you can prepare draws in advance so you only press reveal on camera.

What happens to my entrants’ data?

Entry lists are deleted 90 days after the draw. Winning entries are kept permanently as part of the draw record.
